Hey lovelies! Welcome back to Kessley Nicole! Today I will be reviewing the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. Yes, I know it’s a bit late, but I’ve been eyeing this product for a while, and finally got color matched and bought one at a Sephora in France. So I’ve decided to review it!
For starters I love the packaging! I love the packaging of the whole line so far! (I should probably note that I also have a few other pieces from the collection: the primer, three of the Match Stix (Conceal, Contour and a Highlight), the Stunna Lip Paint, the Gloss Bomb Lip Gloss and a mini Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter-If you all want me to, I’m happy to do a review on the collection as a whole). One thing I will mention however is that the bottle is made from frosted glass (or very hard plastic-I’m not sure) and it makes the color appear lighter than it actually is.
I started by applying the primer to the whole of my face and neck area. The primer has a bit of a sticky or tacky consistency, which I didn’t mind. I love the smell and the color. It has this blush pink color which is throughout the packaging and themes of the collection. So far I quite like the primer.
As for the foundation itself, I started by putting a bit of it on my hand. The consistency of the product is slightly liquidy, which made it difficult to apply as it also dried quickly. I found it easier to blend with my blending sponge than with a brush, which is fine, but it did take me a minute or so to realize this.
The color however did catch me off guard. When I first was color matched in Sephora, I wasn’t really sure if the color was correct, and there were a lot of colors missing (tester bottles). So while I couldn’t see a clear difference between the color that I bought and my natural skin tone in the actual store, when I got home and put a bit on my hand-it looked like I had tanned in a matter of seconds. It’s not a noticeable color difference though-it’s just something to watch out for when buying makeup generally (especially foundations).
I do quite like the finish of my skin when the foundation is on. Depending on how many layers you apply, it can either be medium or heavy coverage. I did try again to apply the foundation, but instead I put a few droplets of the foundation onto my foundation brush and then applied it to my face. This method worked much better and I got so much more even coverage. The color is still off, but it isn’t necessarily noticeable and it can always be lightened with either a bit of moisturizer or a lot of powder.
So on the whole, I do like this product! I would recommend that you do buy the correct color (there are so many to choose from, which is just frankly amazing) and I would definetly buy again (which I do plan to do: just in the correct color)
